30 Art Journal Prompts

Putting ideas, thoughts and concepts to paper is a always a brilliant idea.

Art journaling can help to gain further clarity, as well as discover more about them and gain inspiration in the process.

Prompt: ‘creating with’.

Using what you have, and perhaps building on your supplies as you go, you can start creating an art journal anytime.

Through exploring your ideas through art, in addition to the aforementioned, it’s also a very empowering process.

Creating any art is.

An art journal is great for seasoned artists and beginners alike. The best thing - it’s personal…..There is no right way.

The images here are from my own art journaling. A mixture of prompts I got from a Skillshare class- unfortunately I do not have the source (will link back when I rejoin Skillshare) alongside my own ‘free flows’.

I am starting to include more mixed media in my art journaling- so including other materials rather than just markers or pens. This type is the most inspiring for me. Looking through magazines, internet and the materials I have at home gets me in the creative zone.

In addition to the above, an art journal is a beautiful keepsake documenting moments in time wonderfully- perhaps one day shown to the grand-babas!

So below are 15 art journal prompts. I know I wrote 30 (click bait possibly?!) and there are, except 15 are ‘free flows’. You can keep as is or cut along the dotted line and put them in a jar. Between the 15 prompts and 15 free flows, your creative juices will certainly flow. ‘Free flow’ is for what you want to write about- I recommend going with the first thing that comes to mind. Or maybe, if something is really on your mind a lot free flow about that.

As I said, there are no rules, however, I’d suggest dating each page and perhaps including the prompt somewhere .
