The Art of Ruth E Carter

Learning lots about costume design via reading about Ruth’s process. Ruth E Carter is the first black costume designer to win an Oscar which she did so twice for Blank Panther movies. The book highlights her work with film director Spike Lee. It is separated into different film works as well as by actors she has worked with and is an inspiring and fascinating book. With a emphasis on black history and how this informs her work, I think the book is a brilliant read for costume designers and civilians ;) alike!

I am enjoying taking my time to absorb all the information and will report back with another gushing more in depth post I’m sure!
