Breaking down a script using a story map.
As I venture into the world of theatre design I utilise my teaching skills!
Here is a story map of the play I am currently working on:
It is a useful way to get an overview of the plot and insights to the characters objectives.
Especially when stuck on a wall, or window!
I use story maps in my teaching when working with a book with children. They are quite popular in primary education, I first came across the concept via Talk 4 Writing.
My next task is to highlight the script and possibly the story maps in different colours in the categories of text which relates to set, costume, props, lighting and imagery.
Let me know of any other suggestions to breaking down a script.
